he mission of the Continuing Medical Education
Program of the Southern Kentucky AHEC is to
provide organized and accessible quality
educational programs to the physicians and allied
health providers in the Southern AHEC Region. The
educational programs, based on criteria set forth
by the Kentucky Medical Association, supports and
enhances the delivery of quality patient care by
physicians and allied health personnel.
The primary focus of the CME Program is to provide
the physicians with education and training
necessary to sustain the high quality of patient
care for the community.
Educational programs are developed based on educational needs assessments, both formal and informal, attendance at medical staff meetings, general requests from the physician communities and requirements mandated by the regulatory agency.
The CME program provides educational sessions and updates on current medical treatments and procedures. This is accomplished through local opportunities for professional development, meetings, seminars and training courses. These sessions offered by qualified faculty focus on providing information that will enhance the medical practice and assist in maintaining a high quality level of patient care. In addition, they allow rural community-based physicians the opportunity to network and interact with fellow colleagues from the academic medical centers.
