he Southern KY AHEC Health Sciences Library is devoted to
promoting and facilitating access to health
sciences information. The Library serves health
care professionals, students, and the community in
the following fifteen counties: Boyle, Casey,
Estill, Garrard, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Lincoln,
Madison, McCreary, Mercer, Pulaski, Rockcastle,
Wayne, and Whitley.

Interlibrary Loans: If we don't own the journal article that you need, we can obtain it via Interlibrary Loan. Sometimes there is a cost associated with this service.
Search Services: If you would like to do your own searching, the librarian will instruct you on how to
find information. If not, the librarian will do the search for you.
LoanSome Doc Provider: Journal articles may be ordered directly from the Southern Kentucky AHEC Library while searching Medline via PubMed.
Table of Contents Service: If you would like a copy of the table of contents for each current issue of a journal that we own, ask the librarian for a form.
Computers
Internet Access: We provide access to the World Wide Web for our patrons. The librarian is available to help you use the computers.
Databases
PubMed: The National Library of Medicine's Medline database.
MedlinePlus: The National Library of Medicine's consumer health information website.
Kentucky Virtual Library: Search several databases, including CINAHL. Call the Librarian at the above number for more details.
NLM Gateway: Simultaneously searches Medline, MedlinePlus, and other NLM databases.
UK's InfoKat: Provides access to UK's online card catalog.
Policies
Books: Two weeks - renewable for one additional two week period if not requested by other users. May be renewed over the phone by giving call number, title and author. Books may be checked out to staff, students and all AHEC affiliates. The public does not have borrowing privileges, but may use the books in the library.

Journals: in library use only, unless there is a special circumstance.
All patrons are required to fill out a registration card to check out books.
