AHEC Scholars is a program for health professions students interested in supplementing their education
by gaining additional knowledge and experience in rural and/or underserved urban settings.
This is a two-year longitudinal program with interdisciplinary curricula to implement a
defined set of clinical, didactic, and community-based activities.
Applicants must:
Be enrolled in a health professions degree program
Be two years from program or degree completion
Commit to two years in the program and a one-time program follow-up
For college students enrolled in these majors:
Social Work, Dietetics, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy,
Speech, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Public Health,
Nursing, Laboratory Sciences, Health Care Administration, Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Massage Therapy,
Surgical Technology, Medical Assistant, EMS/Paramedic, Exercise Science, Radiography, Diagnostic Sonography,
Psychology/Applied Behavior Analysis, Medical Information Technology, and Mental Health Counselor.
